Gregor Kobel once again puts in a stellar performance for BVB

Much has been already said about just how much of an amazing signing Gregor Kobel has been for Borussia Dortmund, but it never hurts to heap more praise on a player who seems to be one of the primary beacons of consistency for Die Schwarzgelben this season. Kobel came up big for his side throughout the game and played a huge role in making sure Dortmund came away with all three points.

Throughout the game, Stuttgart posed a threat to Dortmund’s goal on a plethora of occasions. In one sense, they were unlucky not to score because the opportunities that presented themselves favored a Stuttgart goal.

But Kobel rose to the occasion for the Black and Yellows, producing sublime saves to maintain a well deserved clean sheet. Kobel’s save against Borna Sosa late in the second half was a definitive moment, with the Croatian left back sending in a curling shot that forced Kobel into a very acrobatic save. Kobel was also able to make himself big and put off Omar Marmoush in the first half as he tried to dink the ball into Dortmund’s goal.

Kobel’s performance was decisively clinical in ensuring that Dortmund walked away with a win, as has been the case on many an occasion this season. Thankfully, this time he was able to add a clean sheet to his own personal record, and despite his former club’s many missed opportunities, it was well deserved.
