The Borussia Dortmund bosses are said to be split in their assessments of head coach Marco Rose, but a coaching change appears to be highly unlikely going into next season.

Marco Rose’s first season as Borussia Dortmund head coach has certainly not gone according to plan for the club. The Black and Yellows have been forced to deal with one injury crisis after another. And results on the pitch have also been far from ideal, especially in the UEFA Champions League and the DFB-Pokal.

Borussia Dortmund have fared slightly better in the Bundesliga, and are all but assured of a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League. But not all BVB bosses are convinced that Marco Rose is the right man for the job.

According to SportBILD (H/T: fussball.news), sporting director Michael Zorc and his successor Sebastian Kehl are fully behind Marco Rose and are backing him to turn things around next season.

But external advisor and former BVB player and head coach Matthias Sammer holds some reservations about the 45 year old. The magazine claims that Sammer is Rose’s biggest critic and can imagine seeing Edin Terzic back in the dugout.

Terzic was named Borussia Dortmund’s interim head coach following Lucien Favre’s sacking in December 2020 and led the club to the DFB-Pokal title. Following Rose’s arrival, Terzic became the club’s new technical director.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke is said to be torn when it comes to Rose. But he has repeatedly said publicly that Rose will remain the club’s head coach going into next season.

Despite Sammer’s reservations, the magazine adds that there is little to suggest that Borussia Dortmund will part ways with Rose anytime soon.
