“We want to lift trophies” – Emre Can admits Borussia Dortmund’s season has not been good enough

Emre Can has admitted that Borussia Dortmund’s performances have not been good enough this season, and they want to do better next season.
There are only five games left in Borussia Dortmund’s season, and there is not a lot left to play for. The Black and Yellows have already been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the DFB-Pokal. In the Bundesliga, they are nine points behind league leaders Bayern Munich and are just one win away from securing their place in next season’s Champions League.
Emre Can: Expectations are higher, both at the club and in the team
The current campaign has certainly not gone according to plan for Marco Rose’s side. And Emre Can has admitted that Borussia Dortmund have failed to meet their own expectations this season. In a media roundtable, Can said that he wants to achieve something and win trophies with the club.
"“Everyone here has a somewhat negative view of the season so far. Expectations are higher, both at the club and in the team. We want to achieve something. We want to lift trophies. We weren’t able to do that this year. We have to improve on that. And we can do better.”"
Borussia Dortmund will be looking to end their season on a high by winning their remaining five games in the Bundesliga. They are set to take on VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga this weekend. And a win against Florian Kohfeldt’s side would see them qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Dortmund will then make the trip to Bavaria to take on Bayern Munich next weekend.
Emre Can also said that Borussia Dortmund’s goal for the remaining five games of the season is to ensure that they finish second in the Bundesliga standings. Dortmund are currently eight points clear of third placed Bayer Leverkusen.
