A number of players from the U-19s team trained with the Borussia Dortmund first-team squad on Wednesday, but Mahmoud Dahoud, Raphael Guerreiro and Donyell Malen all missed the session.
Preparations are underway for Borussia Dortmund’s crunch clash against VfL Wolfsburg this weekend. A win at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday would help the Black and Yellows secure their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League. But Marco Rose’s side may have to make do without a number of first-team players against Wolfsburg.
Gio Reyna has already been ruled out for the rest of the season, and Mats Hummels and Thomas Meunier will also be sidelined for the next few weeks. Mahmoud Dahoud is also set to miss the game against Wolfsburg. And according to Ruhr Nachrichten, Donyell Malen is also in danger of missing this weekend’s game due to a tendon injury. The Dutchman received treatment at the club’s training ground on Wednesday.
The newspaper adds that Raphael Guerreiro also missed Wednesday’s session. But Borussia Dortmund still have hope that the Portuguese international will be able to face Wolfsburg.
With several players currently injured, four players from Borussia Dortmund’s U-19s team trained with the first-team squad on Wednesday.
Jamie Bynone-Gittens, Abdoulaye Kamara, Tom Rothe and Lion Semic all took part in Wednesday’s session. The BVB U-19s, who celebrated winning the U-19 Bundesliga West title last weekend, do not have a game this weekend.
So it will be interesting to see if the quartet get a chance in the first-team squad for Saturday’s game. Bynoe-Gittens traveled with the first-team squad for last week’s game against VfB Stuttgart.
