Defenders: Emre Can, Manuel Akanji, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Nico Schulz

Mats Hummels’ injury means that Dan-Axel Zagadou will likely come into the starting XI on Saturday. The Frenchman made a good impression after coming on against Stuttgart. And he will be looking to win a new contract at the club by putting in strong performances in the coming weeks.

Manuel Akanji will start as the right centre-back, with Emre Can expected to keep his place at right-back. Marius Wolf is also an option for the right-back role if Marco Rose decides to use Can in another position.

Raphael Guerreiro is unlikely to be fit in time for Saturday’s game. So Nico Schulz looks set to slot straight back into the starting XI. Schulz is also just coming back from an injury, so it remains to be seen if he is ready to play from the start.

Highly-rated left-back Tom Rothe has been training with the team this week and could be on the bench, especially if Guerreiro isn’t able to feature.
