Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 6-1 win over Wolfsburg: Tom Rothe shines on first-team debut
By Tushar Bahl
Julian Brandt (7.5/10)
Brandt produced a moment of magic to set up Haaland for his second goal. And he also delivered the cross before Rothe’s goal. The playmaker was heavily involved in Dortmund’s attacking play and caused the Wolfsburg defenders all sorts of problems.
Marco Reus (7.5/10)
Reus quietly had an excellent game. He set up two of the five goals, and was unlucky not to end up with a hat-trick of assists. He also came close to scoring in the second half, but Casteels made a good save to deny him.
Erling Haaland (8/10)
Haaland finally ended his goal drought with a goal in each half. The Norwegian international also set up Axel Witsel’s goal. But he will no doubt be annoyed not to have completed his hat-trick in the end.
Youssoufa Moukoko, Marin Pongracic, Reinier, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Lion Semic (N/R)
The game was already in the bag before Borussia Dortmund made their substitutions. Although Marin Pongracic had a cameo to forget against his parent club, as he lost possession before Wolfsburg’s consolation goal. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Lion Semic both made their first-team debuts for Borussia Dortmund.
