Tom Rothe scored on his first-team debut and Erling Haaland netted a brace as Borussia Dortmund claimed a thumping 6-1 win over Wolfsburg.
Borussia Dortmund blew Wolfsburg apart in the first-half en route to a dominant 6-1 win at home in the Bundesliga. It was a ruthless performance from the Black and Yellows, who put on a show in front of the 79,200 supporters at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday afternoon.

17 year old Tom Rothe marked his Borussia Dortmund first-team debut with a special goal. And Axel Witsel, Manuel Akanji, Emre Can and Erling Haaland were also on the scoresheet for Dortmund as they ran riot against a hapless Wolfsburg side.
Marco Rose was forced into making a number of changes to deal with his team’s latest injury crisis. With Nico Schulz not yet ready to start following his recent injury, highly rated left-back Tom Rothe made his Borussia Dortmund debut. While Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Lion Semic both started on the bench.

And Rothe could not have imagined a better start on his first-team debut. The youngster opened the scoring for Borussia Dortmund in the 24th minute with an excellent header from a corner.
Rothe’s goal opened up the floodgates for Borussia Dortmund. Axel Witsel made it 2-0 just two minutes later, before Manuel Akanji got on the end of Marco Reus’ free-kick for Dortmund’s third goal. Emre Can then added a fourth with a fine low finish from the edge of the box.
Erling Haaland then ended his five game goal drought by scoring Dortmund’s fifth after some really good play by Marco Reus.

The second half was a fairly quiet affair in comparison, with the result already in the bag for Borussia Dortmund. But Marco Rose’s side still managed to create a number of decent chances. Haaland made it 6-0 after getting on the end of a sumptuous pass from Julian Brandt.
The Norwegian international then had a glorious chance to complete his hat-trick, but was denied by Koen Casteels. Ridle Baku pulled a goal back for Wolfsburg late on to deny Gregor Kobel what would have been a well deserved clean sheet.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Lion Semic also came on for their first-team debuts with three minutes to go in the game. And Borussia Dortmund comfortably managed to see out a memorable 6-1 win over Wolfsburg ahead of next weekend’s trip to Bayern Munich.
