Bayern Munich were crowned Bundesliga champions for the tenth year in a row on Saturday after they cruised to a 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund’s poor record against Bayern Munich continued as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. The Black and Yellows delivered a spirited performance, especially in the second half. But the Bavarians were just a class above in the end, as they clinched their tenth successive Bundesliga title.

Goals from Serge Gnabry, Robert Lewandowski and Jamal Musiala sealed the win for Bayern. Emre Can was on target for Borussia Dortmund, who were made to rue missed chances and a controversial refereeing decision in the second half.

With ten players sidelined due to injuries, Marco Rose was forced into making a number of changes to his starting XI. In came Reinier Jesus for his first start since November. He joined Marco Reus and Erling Haaland in the Borussia Dortmund attack. While Raphael Guerreiro returned at left-back after recovering from his injury.

The game got off to a fairly quiet and cagey start, especially in comparison to the recent meetings between these two sides. But it was Bayern who struck first, and the goal came almost out of nowhere.

Serge Gnabry opened the scoring with a stunning half-volley after Leon Goretzka headed a corner into his path. The goal helped Bayern wrestle control of the game, and they doubled their lead in the 34th minute with Robert Lewandowski taking advantage of a mistake from Dan-Axel Zagadou.

Aside from a great opportunity for Erling Haaland (which he fired wide), Borussia Dortmund did not have much in terms of chances in the first half. And they went into the break with a two goal deficit.

Borussia Dortmund made a much better start to the second half, and they halved Bayern’s lead in the 49th minute. Marco Reus was fouled inside the box, and Emre Can made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Erling Haaland and Marco Reus both had chances to get Borussia Dortmund back on level terms. And Dortmund were also denied what looked like a clear cut penalty when Jude Bellingham was brought down inside the box.

Despite all of Borussia Dortmund’s pressure, it was Bayern Munich who scored the next goal. Substitute Jamal Musiala made the most of some sloppy defending inside the box to seal the win in the 83rd minute.
