Former Borussia Dortmund player Kevin Großkreutz feels that Erling Haaland does not suit Manchester City’s style of play despite being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League side.
Erling Haaland appears set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, and all signs currently point towards a transfer to Manchester City. The English Premier League side have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with the striker’s camp, and they are prepared to meet the release clause in his contract.
But former Borussia Dortmund right-back Kevin Großkreutz believes that Haaland is not suited to Manchester City’s style of play, and thinks that he would be a better fit for Liverpool.
"“It will be difficult for Haaland to stay at Dortmund. If he does go, then hopefully he goes abroad. Personally, I don’t think he would be a good fit for Manchester City, but rather for Liverpool with Klopp’s football,” Großkreutz said on the ran Bundesliga Webshow."
Liverpool are not in the race to sign to sign Haaland, and Jürgen Klopp said earlier this month that the numbers involved in the deal for the Norwegian international are “crazy”. It has been reported that the total package to sign Haaland (including the player’s salary, transfer fee, agent commissions and other fees) will cost around 350 million euros.
Haaland, who joined Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020, has scored 82 goals in just 86 appearances for the club. The 21 year old has a release clause of 75 million euros in his contract, and the BVB bosses have made it clear in recent weeks that they want a decision on his future as soon as possible.
Real Madrid have also been heavily linked with a move for Haaland in recent months, but Manchester City appear to be leading the race for his signature at the moment.
