Goalkeeper Marwin Hitz could be set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, and he has already  hinted about his departure on Instagram.

Marwin Hitz could be set for a move away from Borussia Dortmund, with Sport1 claiming that the goalkeeper will ‘in all likelihood’ leave the club in the summer. The goalkeeper also dropped a hint about his exit on Instagram at the weekend by posting a photo with the caption “The last Klassiker.”

Hitz filled in for the injured Gregor Kobel on Saturday as Borussia Dortmund fell to a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. It was only his fourth appearance of the season.

Hitz joined Borussia Dortmund from FC Augsburg in 2018 and has made 44 appearances for the club. He was previously behind Roman Bürki in the pecking order, but replaced his compatriot as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper in the second half of last season.

Following the arrival of Gregor Kobel from VfB Stuttgart in the summer, Marwin Hitz took over the role of Borussia Dortmund’s second-choice goalkeeper once again. Hitz only signed a two year contract extension with the Black and Yellows last year. But now it looks like he could leave the club this summer.

Third-choice goalkeeper Roman Bürki will also leave Borussia Dortmund this summer to join newly formed MLS franchise Salt Lake City SC.

But even if Hitz does leave this summer, Borussia Dortmund will still have plenty of options in the goalkeeping department. BVB are set to sign young goalkeeper Marcel Lotka on a free transfer from Hertha BSC in the summer. And they also have the highly rated duo Luca Unbehaun and Silas Ostrzinski in their ranks.
