Borussia Dortmund considering four young strikers to replace Erling Haaland
With the departure of Erling Haaland seemingly close, Borussia Dortmund look to be in the market for a new striker for the coming Bundesliga season. The Norwegian international looks set to join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and an interesting list of potential candidates has been drawn up to replace him.
According to WAZ, Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing RB Salzburg’s Benjamin Seško. The 18 year old has been attracting interest from a multitude of clubs, including Bayern Munich. The report claims that Dortmund have been tracking the striker’s progress for months now.
Seško isn’t the only Salzburg attacker to garner interest from Die Schwarzgelben. Noah Okafor is also an option for the club, according to Sport1.
Both outlets also note that Dortmund are reportedly keeping tabs on Sparta Praha’s Adam Hložek. The Czech youngster has already told his current side that he intends to leave this summer, and has been given the green light to seek a move elsewhere by sporting director Tomáš Rosický.
Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with French youngster Hugo Ekitike, but the Reims striker’s valuation may be considered too high. The asking price is said to be around 25-35 million euros depending on the source reporting the rumor.
In terms of affordability, Seško and Hložek fall more into Dortmund’s range, but Seško is certainly the less proven of the two. Hložek on the other hand doesn’t present the same player profile as the outgoing Erling Haaland. But he does have a fair level of experience playing in the first team with Sparta Praha.
Both players’ agents have already been in contact with the club, with Seško’s advisor Elvis Basanovic attending BVB’s 6-1 win over Wolfsburg this month.
Perhaps these targets suggest that Borussia Dortmund may be taking a different approach in attack under Rose. What is also clear is that the Black and Yellows are looking to freshen up the attack with another young talent who they will look to turn into a world class offensive player to spearhead their bid for silverware next season.
