Borussia Dortmund vs VfL Bochum: Bundesliga Team News
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund will be looking to secure second place in the Bundesliga standings this weekend as they take on VfL Bochum in the Revierderby.
There are just three games left in Borussia Dortmund’s season, and Marco Rose’s side will be keen to end what has been an underwhelming campaign so far on a high. The Black and Yellows can secure the Bundesliga’s runners-up spot with a win over Bochum. And they will be aiming to get the job done this weekend.
VfL Bochum have surpassed all expectations in their first season back in the Bundesliga. Thomas Reis’ side are currently in 13th place, eight points clear of the relegation playoff spot. Bochum are all but assured of their place in the Bundesliga next season. But they will be keen to get the bragging rights over Borussia Dortmund in this local derby.
BVB will welcome Axel Witsel back into the squad, while Jude Bellingham, Julian Brandt and Marius Wolf should also feature after returning to training on Thursday. Emre Can is suspended, while Gregor Kobel, Mats Hummels, Thomas Meunier, Gio Reyna, Steffen Tigges and Mateu Morey are injured.
Donyell Malen, Thorgan Hazard and Mahmoud Dahoud will also not be fit in time to take part in Saturday’s game.
VfL Bochum will be without the injured Danilo Soares and suspended Kostas Stafylidis on Saturday.
