Despite receiving a better offer from Bayern Munich, Nico Schlotterbeck has made the decision to join Borussia Dortmund.

Nico Schlotterbeck has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s top transfer targets for quite some time now. It was reported earlier this month that the defender has already agreed to join BVB. And BILD now claim that Schlotterbeck will move to Dortmund despite interest from Bayern Munich.

According to the tabloid, Bayern made a late attempt to sign Schlotterbeck and even offered him a significantly higher salary. But the German international rejected their approach as he has already given his commitment to Borussia Dortmund. And he now appears set to join the Black and Yellows this summer.

BILD add that SC Freiburg will receive a transfer fee of 20 million euros for the sale of Schlotterbeck, who has just over one year left on his contract. If the move goes through, the 22 year old will become Borussia Dortmund’s second signing in defence after Niklas Süle.

Schlotterbeck will replace Manuel Akanji, who is likely to leave Borussia Dortmund after rejecting the club’s offer for a contract extension. Manchester United are said to be leading the race for Akanji’s signature.

Schlotterbeck is enjoying an excellent season with SC Freiburg, who are fifth in the Bundesliga standings and have also reached the final of the DFB-Pokal. He said earlier this month that he wants to wait until the end of the season before making a decision on his future. But that hasn’t stopped all the rumours surrounding his future. And now it looks like he will be sealing his move to Borussia Dortmund before long.
