Former Borussia Dortmund player Nuri Sahin has said that he dreams of returning to the club as head coach one day.

Nuri Sahin was a fan favourite at Borussia Dortmund during his playing days. Considered to be one of the most talented players to ever come through the BVB youth ranks, Sahin was the youngest player to ever play for the club before Youssoufa Moukoko broke his record in 2020.

The former midfielder made 274 appearances for the Black and Yellows across two spells and helped the club win the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal during his playing career. Sahin also had spells with Real Madrid, Liverpool, Werder Bremen and Antalyaspor, before he retired from his playing career last year.

Sahin is now the head coach of Turkish club Antalyaspor, where he is doing a fairly impressive job. And the 33 year old is already dreaming about making his return to Borussia Dortmund one day, this time as the head coach. In an interview with Kicker (H/T: FussballNews), Sahin said:

"“I’ve never made a secret of the fact that Borussia Dortmund is close to my heart and I dream of celebrating a victory in front of the Südtribüne as a coach one day.”“When I left BVB and went to Bremen back then, I sat at home with my wife in the evening and said to her: I think I have what it takes to coach this club one day.”"

Sahin has made quite an impact since taking over at Antalyaspor, and has won 16 of his 33 matches in charge across all competitions. Antalyaspor were in relegation trouble when he took over, but they are now ninth in Turkish Süper Lig standings.

Despite his desire to become head coach at Borussia Dortmund one day, Sahin believes that his time at Antalyaspor is far from over and he wants to achieve big things with them.

Sahin also credits former Borussia Dortmund trainers Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel for shaping his career and inspiring him to pursue coaching.
