Borussia Dortmund have announced that Erling Haaland will join Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

Erling Haaland’s time at Borussia Dortmund will come to an end this summer, with the striker set to join Manchester City. The Black and Yellows have announced that all parties have reached an agreement in principle regarding the move, and the transfer will be officially completed on July 01, 2022.

Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg for a transfer fee of 20 million euros in January 2020. He made his mark instantly, and has since gone on to score 85 goals in just 88 appearances for the club. The Norwegian international will make his final appearance for BVB this weekend against Hertha BSC.

The announcement marks an end to the long-drawn saga surrounding Haaland’s future. Speculation about the 21 year old’s future has dominated headlines in newspapers and media outlets across Europe for months now, with some of biggest clubs competing for his signature.

Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea were also said to be interested in signing Haaland, but Manchester City won the race for his signature.

Haaland had a release clause of 75 million euros in his contract, but Borussia Dortmund have revealed in their ad-hoc announcement that they expect to make a profit in the region of 35-40 million euros from his sale after deducting all the agent fees, taxes and other payments.
