Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of highly rated winger Jayden Braaf from Manchester City.

Borussia Dortmund have completed their sixth signing of the summer transfer window, with talented winger Jayden Braaf joining on a free transfer from Manchester City. The 19 year old has signed a three year contract with the Black and Yellows.

Braaf announced yesterday that he will be leaving Manchester City this summer. He attracted the interest of a number of big clubs, including Bayer Leverkusen. But Borussia Dortmund have won the race for his signature.

Sebastian Kehl said that BVB have been closely monitoring the development of Braaf for quite some time now:

"“Jayden, whose development we have been closely monitoring for years, has shown in the past that he can be a difference maker with his pace and ability. After more than one year out with injury, however, he will now need time to regain his old strength.”“We will give him this time and introduce him carefully. If Jayden can cope with the phase ahead of him, we will have a great talent on our hands.”"

Borussia Dortmund have held a long-term interest in signing Braaf, and were linked with a move for him ahead of last year’s winter transfer window as well. But the former PSV Eindhoven youth academy product ended up joining Serie A side Udinese, where he suffered a serious knee ligament injury. He has been sidelined for the last 12 months and is currently on the road to recovery.

Borussia Dortmund will look to slowly introduce Braaf to first-team football. Multiple reports in Germany claim that he will initially play for the U-23s team in the 3. Liga.

Braaf becomes the third highly rated Manchester City winger to join Borussia Dortmund in recent years. Jadon Sancho joined BVB in 2017, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens made the switch to Dortmund in 2020. The former developed into one of the world’s most exciting wingers in Dortmund, while the latter recently made his professional debut for BVB.
