Borussia Dortmund are set to be in pot three for the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage draw.
The seeds are set for the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage draw, and Borussia Dortmund could well face a very tough draw. After dropping to 19th place in UEFA’s club coefficient rankings, the Black and Yellows will be in pot three for the Champions League group stage draw.
Some of Europe’s biggest clubs are in pots one and two, and Edin Terzic’s side may well have to overcome some difficult challenges in order to progress to the knockout rounds.
Pot one includes the reigning UEFA Champions League winners, UEFA Europa League winners and champions of the top six leagues according to the UEFA association coefficient.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt will both be in pot one, along with Manchester City, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Porto and AFC Ajax. Pot two will include UEFA Champions League runners-up Liverpool, Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, RB Leipzig and Tottenham Hotspur.
Bayer Leverkusen, Inter Milan, Napoli, RB Salzburg and Sporting CP are among the other confirmed teams who will be in pot three. Club Brugge and Celtic are guaranteed to be in pot four, and the remaining teams will be confirmed after the qualifiers.
Borussia Dortmund had a Champions League campaign to forget this season, as they failed to make it out of the group stage. So they will certainly be determined to reach the knockout rounds next season. The draw for the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage will take place on August 25.
