The post-season international break is in full-swing and Borussia Dortmund left-back Raphael Guerreiro was in action for Portugal on Thursday evening.

Raphael Guerreiro played 90 minutes for Portugal on Thursday in their UEFA Nations League opener against Spain. The Borussia Dortmund left-back had a fairly decent game, as the Euro 2016 winners came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw.

Guerreiro helped set up Portugal’s first real chance of the game as he dribbled past two defenders before setting up Rafael Leão. But the AC Milan forward fired his shot over the bar. Spain then took the lead in the 25th minute through Álvaro Morata, who scored at the end of a blistering counter-attack.

Portugal managed to get back on level terms in the 82nd minute through Ricardo Horta. In the end, both sides were made to rue missed chances as the game ended all square.

Switzerland were also in action on Thursday, but they had to make do without Manuel Akanji. The Borussia Dortmund defender missed the game due to knee problems. It remains to be seen if he will be fit in time for their game against Portugal on Sunday.

Gregor Kobel was on the bench for Switzerland on Thursday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat against the Czech Republic.
