Borussia Dortmund have reportedly shown interest in signing 19 year old Dion Drena Beljo from Croatian side Osijek, per Croatian newspaper 24Sata.

Borussia Dortmund’s search for a new striker in lieu of Erling Haaland’s departure to Manchester City continues to add names to the list of potential players that could likely succeed their previous goal machine. The Black and Yellows have already been heavily linked with Saša Kalajdžić and Sébastien Haller in recent weeks and months, but Croatian newspaper 24Sata are reporting that Dortmund have allegedly inquired about the availability of Dion Drena Beljo from Croatian side NK Osijek.

The young Zagreb-born striker registered 19 goals and 4 assists across all competitions for NK Istra on loan this past season, an impressive haul for a player so young. The player would of course be a far more raw and unproven option for Dortmund to take a risk on in terms of his ability to adapt to one of Europe’s top 5 leagues.

The club prerogative would seem to be adding a far more proven option up top considering the names previously mentioned. But Borussia Dortmund have made stars of players that the general football community knew little to nothing about prior to their moves to the Westfalenstadion on quite a few occasions in the past to great effect, with Robert Lewandowski being one of the most prominent examples of this.

It’s not far fetched to think that Borussia Dortmund would try to do the same again. Ruhr Nachrichten even mentioned Bejlo as a player Dortmund may want to consider, so it’s not an idea that is extremely new to the Ruhr area and experts around the club. Although Sasa Kalajdzic appears to be their first choice target.

Whatever the case may be, Dortmund are clearly very busy looking for options up front with a variety of creative solutions in mind.
