Six Borussia Dortmund players nominated for the Golden Boy award

Jude Bellingham and Karim Adeyemi are among the six Borussia Dortmund players in contention to win the 2022 Golden Boy award.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport has revealed the 100-man shortlist for the 2022 Golden Boy award, and six Borussia Dortmund players have been nominated. Jude Bellingham, Karim Adeyemi, Youssoufa Moukoko, Gio Reyna, Ansgar Knauff and Jayden Braaf have all been included in the list of nominees.
The prestigious award is given by Tuttosport to the best performing U-21 player playing in the top tier of a European league. Mario Götze and Erling Haaland are the two Borussia Dortmund players to have won the award over the years.
Jude Bellingham finished second in the race to win the 2021 Golden Boy award. And he has gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months. The 18 year old has established himself as an important player for both Borussia Dortmund and England. He scored six goals and registered 14 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions last season.
Karim Adeyemi is coming off an excellent breakthrough season with RB Salzburg. His 23 goals and seven assists in just 43 appearances helped him attract the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and Borussia Dortmund won the race for his signature last month.
Ansgar Knauff is also in contention to win the Golden Boy award after helping Eintracht Frankfurt win the UEFA Europa League. He was named the UEFA Europa League Young Player of the Season for his excellent performances on loan for the Eagles.
Youssoufa Moukoko is considered to be one of the most talented young strikers in Europe, and already has five first-team goals to his name at the age of 17. Gio Reyna and new Borussia Dortmund signing Jayden Braaf have also been included in the 100-man shortlist for the Golden Boy award.
The winner of the 2022 Golden Boy award will be announced towards the end of the year. A number of European newspapers participate in the voting for the award, and fans can also cast their votes here.
