Borussia Dortmund to face Bayer Leverkusen on matchday one of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season

The fixture list for the 2022/23 Bundesliga season has been released and Borussia Dortmund will take on Bayer Leverkusen on matchday one.

Borussia Dortmund will open their 2022/23 Bundesliga campaign at home to Bayer Leverkusen, it has been announced. The game will mark the start of a new era in Dortmund, and Leverkusen will certainly present a tough test to Edin Terzic’s side. Matchday one of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season will take place between August 05-07.

A tricky start awaits Borussia Dortmund, with a trip to SC Freiburg set to follow the matchday one clash against Bayer Leverkusen. Freiburg are coming off an excellent season, and the game will also see Nico Schlotterbeck make his return to his former club.

The Black and Yellows will then take on newly promoted side Werder Bremen on matchday three, before traveling to Berlin to face Hertha BSC.

The first Revierderby of the 2022/23 season will take place on matchday seven, when Borussia Dortmund host Schalke 04 for the first time since October 2020. Borussia Dortmund’s first meeting against Bayern Munich will take place on Matchday 09 at the Signal Iduna Park.

The 2022/23 season will also feature a break for the FIFA World Cup, which will take place in Qatar in November and December. The World Cup will be followed by a month long winter break, and Borussia Dortmund’s first game of 2023 will see them face FC Augsburg (January 20-22).

The 2022/23 Bundesliga season will end on Saturday, May 27 with Borussia Dortmund going up against Mainz 05 at home. The DFB-Pokal final is scheduled to take place a week later.
