Mario Götze is being linked with a return to the Bundesliga, with Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly interested in signing him this summer.
Two years after leaving Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer, Mario Götze could make his return to the Bundesliga. According to SportBILD, Eintracht Frankfurt are seriously interested in signing the playmaker and initial talks have already taken place between the two parties.
Götze appears set to leave PSV Eindhoven this summer, and he has been linked with AC Milan and SL Benfica in recent weeks. SportBILD add that there is a release clause in his contract, allowing him to leave PSV for a fee of four million euros. This exit clause can be activated before July.
Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to bolster their squad after winning the UEFA Europa League last month. The Eagles will be playing in the UEFA Champions League next season, and are said to be looking for a new number ten.
Götze said in April that he wants to play at the highest level again after finding his form at PSV Eindhoven. The 30 year old scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions for the Dutch side this season.
Götze still has two years left on his PSV contract, but it looks like he will be on the move this summer. And it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich midfielder.
Mario Götze, who came through the ranks at Borussia Dortmund, made a total of 219 appearances for the Black and Yellows across two spells.
