Borussia Dortmund winger Thorgan Hazard is reportedly being eyed by English Premier League side Newcastle United.

Borussia Dortmund’s summer so far has been very busy in terms of transfers, with many new faces coming to the club to help reinforce the team for next season. The BVB bosses are also busy in terms of choosing which players will leave the club this summer.

Thorgan Hazard seems to be on the list of players the club seems to be willing to part ways with in order to generate funds. Borussia Dortmund are seemingly willing to let Hazard leave for around 15 million euros, a stark dip from the 25 million euros they paid to sign him from Borussia Mönchengladbach back in 2019. And Newcastle United are said to be interested in signing him.

According to BILD, the Belgian international is set to face stiff competition from like the likes of Giovanni Reyna, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Karim Adeyemi for playing time, which would make a departure the more sensible option.

Of the players mentioned however, only Bynoe-Gittens offers a similar profile to the former Gladbach winger, as neither Reyna nor Adeyemi are natural wingers. Selling Hazard would mean Dortmund would have far less depth in this position and may suffer from similar problems in the following season when it comes to a lack of natural players out wide.

Hazard is, however, one of the names in the squad who would still command a sizeable transfer sum. And considering Dortmund’s plans to sign David Raum, they may be forced to cash in should they wish to realise their transfer goals. The sales of other players like Manuel Akanji would likely be preferred from a financial and sporting standpoint, but there have been very few rumors to suggest that clubs are showing concrete interest in the Swiss defender.
