Edin Terzic is delighted to be back as Borussia Dortmund head coach, and he is determined to make the fans happy next season.
Borussia Dortmund made the shock decision to part ways with Marco Rose in May, and Edin Terzic was appointed as his replacement on a three year contract. Terzic’s return as head coach came as a surprise to everyone, including the 39 year old. And he is determined to make the BVB supporters happy in the coming months.
The Borussia Dortmund players took part in their first training session of pre-season on Wednesday in front of 1300 supporters, and Terzic described it as a very special day. He is now looking forward to laying the foundations in the next few weeks, ahead of what promises to be a very exciting season for the club.
"“As is always the case in pre-season, we first want to lay the foundations,” Terzic said during a media round. “This season will pose big challenges to us due to the break in November, and also from September onwards we’ll be playing every three days. We will use every day in July and August to prepare for this.”"
Borussia Dortmund have been very active in the transfer market this summer, bringing in the likes of Karim Adeyemi, Niklas Süle, Nico Schlotterbeck and Salih Özcan. The anticipation is very high going into the new season as a result.
Terzic is not thinking about the Bundesliga title race just yet, but he wants his team to be ready for any challenges they may face over the course of the season.
"“We want to make the fans happy, and do so on an increasingly regular basis, if possible in a three-day rhythm. And maybe at some point we can celebrate the big prize (the Bundesliga title).”“First of all, we want to see good football, and there are many ways to get there. We’ll try to get the most out of the players, bring all their strengths to the pitch. We want to be in a position where we are well prepared for anything that we may face in a game.”"
The Black and Yellows will step up their preparations for the new season in the coming weeks. Edin Terzic’s side are scheduled to play five pre-season friendlies, before going up against 1860 München in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on July 29. Borussia Dortmund will begin their Bundesliga campaign at home to Bayer Leverkusen on August 06.
