Edin Terzic: We want to make the most of the next three weeks
By Tushar Bahl
Edin Terzic is determined to make the most of pre-season as Borussia Dortmund ramp up their preparations for the start of their campaign.
There are less than three weeks left before Borussia Dortmund play their first competitive game of the season, and Edin Terzic wants to ensure that they make the optimal use of every day. The BVB head coach is also looking forward to welcoming back all the national team players, who are set to take part in their first training session on Monday.
Following Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win in their pre-season friendly against Dynamo Dresden on Saturday, Terzic said:
"“You can’t ask for a better day in pre-season: great game, super opponent, amazing atmosphere. We kept a clean sheet, scored two goals and had no injuries. People want BVB football, and that’s what we wanted to show. We did that very well at times. But after ten days of hard work, of course there were still one or two mistakes.”“Time is flying. Every day is important. Now there are just under three weeks until our first competitive game. And we want to use these three weeks in the ideal way.”"
Only a handful of first-team players were available for Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season friendly against Dynamo Dresden. And the Black and Yellows were made to work hard by the third division side in front of 24,000 supporters. But Edin Terzic was pleased with his side’s workout.
The game also gave Terzic the opportunity to take a closer look at the some of the players from the U-19s and U-23s teams. And Terzic believes that they may well need to count on some of those players over the course of the season.
With the FIFA World Cup taking place in November this year, September and October will be very busy months for teams and games will come by thick and fast. And Terzic is keen to ensure that his team is ready for whatever conditions they may have to face in the coming months.
"“We want to find out: Which of the guys are ready? Who can we count on? Who can we maybe rely on in September or October if things get tough?”"
Borussia Dortmund will be in action again on Thursday as they take on 3. Liga side SC Verl in a pre-season friendly.
