Gio Reyna back at Borussia Dortmund for pre-season
By Tushar Bahl
Gio Reyna returned to the Borussia Dortmund training ground on Sunday to step up his preparations for the start of the new season.
Borussia Dortmund welcomed Gio Reyna back to the training ground on Sunday morning, with the highly rated attacking midfielder completing the first part of his performance diagnostics tests.
Reyna missed the start of pre-season as he worked on his rehab in the United States. Edin Terzic said recently that Borussia Dortmund will look to ease him back into action in order to avoid the risk of further injuries.
So the 19 year old will be gradually integrated back into the squad, and the hope will be that he can be ready in time for the start of the new season.
Reyna is coming off a difficult season that saw him struggle with a number of injury problems. The USMNT international suffered three injury setbacks last season, and was limited to just 12 appearances across all competitions as a result. But he is now finally closing in on his return to action. And both the club and the player will be hoping that his injury woes are behind him.
The Borussia Dortmund players who were on international duty last month were also at the training ground on Sunday for the second part of their performance diagnostics tests.
New signings Sebastien Haller, Karim Adeyemi, Niklas Süle, Nico Schlotterbeck and Salih Özcan are all set to return to the training pitch on Monday afternoon, ahead of Thursday’s pre-season friendly against SC Verl.
