Edin Terzic has revealed that Borussia Dortmund will look to gradually integrate Gio Reyna back into the squad in order to ensure that he does not suffer another setback.

Gio Reyna made his return to the training pitch on Monday as he took part in parts of Borussia Dortmund’s public training session. The USMNT international is working his way back to full fitness. And the Black and Yellows want to be extra careful with him as they look to manage his workload.

Edin Terzic said after the training session that they want to help Gio Reyna regain his confidence after all the injury setbacks he had to deal with last season.

"“Gio has had to deal with a lot of setbacks in the last twelve months. We want to make sure he doesn’t suffer another one now. We want him to regain confidence in himself, in his body, and to have fun playing football again. That’s why we’re taking a more cautious approach. Because it’s about him staying fit for a very, very long time.”"

The 2021/22 season was a very difficult one for Reyna, as he was forced to deal with a number of injury problems. The 19 year old was limited to just 12 appearances across all competitions as a result.
