Youssoufa Moukoko scores brace as Borussia Dortmund hit five past SC Verl
Youssoufa Moukoko scored two goals as Borussia Dortmund cruised to a 5-0 win over SC Verl in their third pre-season friendly of the summer.
Marco Reus made his first appearance of pre-season as Borussia Dortmund went up against third division side SC Verl on Thursday. It did not take long for the BVB captain to make an impact, as he set up U-23s forward Ole Pohlmann for the first goal.
Youssoufa Moukoko then got on the scoresheet in the 28th minute, powering his way past an SC Verl defender before expertly finding the bottom corner.
Mahmoud Dahoud scored Borussia Dortmund’s third with a stunning strike from 25 yards out, before Moukoko went clean through on goal and rounded past the goalkeeper to make it 4-0.
Borussia Dortmund’s fifth goal arrived ten minutes into the second half when Prince Aning was brought down inside the box. The highly rated wide player stepped up and converted the penalty to continue his excellent start to pre-season.
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens came on in the second half and caused a lot of problems to the SC Verl defenders. But there were to be no more goals, and Borussia Dortmund claimed a comfortable 5-0 win.
The BVB players will head to Switzerland on Friday for a week-long training camp to continue their preparations for the new season.
A much tougher test awaits Edin Terzic’s side on Monday, as they take on La Liga side Valencia CF in Austria. And we could see the likes of Sebastien Haller, Karim Adeyemi, Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle make their Borussia Dortmund debuts in that game.
