Jude Bellingham will be third in line to Borussia Dortmund’s captaincy in the coming season, Edin Terzic has confirmed.
Borussia Dortmund have given Jude Bellingham added responsibility going into the new season. The highly rated midfielder is now a part of the team’s leadership council, and will be third in line to the captaincy behind the experienced duo of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels.
Jude Bellingham wore the captain’s armband towards the end of Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season friendly against Villarreal CF on Friday after both Reus and Hummels were subbed off. And head coach Edin Terzic revealed after the game that the 19 year old is now a part of the team’s leadership group.
"“The fact that Jude Bellingham wore the captain’s armband towards the end of the game is a sign. He will be our new third captain,” Terzic said."
Bellingham has gone from strength to strength since joining Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2019. He has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the world, and his role in the team is continuing to grow. Terzic’s decision to appoint Bellingham to the leadership group further shows the amount of confidence the BVB bosses have in him.
The England international said in May that it is a pleasure to have that responsibility in the team, and he wants to give his best to try and win games for Borussia Dortmund.
Jude Bellingham has made 90 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund and is going into his third season with the club. He is set to play a key role in the coming season as the Black and Yellows look to challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title.
