Midfielders: Salih Özcan, Jude Bellingham, Marco Reus

Edin Terzic is spoiled for choice in midfield, and there are a number of different systems that he could decide to go with in the middle of the park over the course of the season.

Salih Özcan has been signed to replace Axel Witsel and will likely be the team’s first-choice defensive midfielder once he recovers from his injury. The combative midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with FC Köln last season, and he has the potential to be one of the bargain buys of the transfer window.

Mahmoud Dahoud is also expected to play a key role this season thanks to his ability to play in a variety of different positions. He played some of his best football in a BVB shirt the last time Edin Terzic was head coach. And he will no doubt start in a lot of games this season.

Jude Bellingham has enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining Borussia Dortmund two years ago. The 19 year old is now the team’s third captain and will be one of the first names on the team-sheet. He will have a crucial role to play if the Black and Yellows are to compete for silverware this season.

Marco Reus is going into his 11th season with Borussia Dortmund. And he remains as important as ever to the team. The BVB captain will be used in a hybrid attacking midfield role, which will allow him to lead the team’s counter-pressing and also drop back to dictate play when needed. Gio Reyna could also be an option for this role once he returns to full fitness.
