How Borussia Dortmund could line up for the 2022/23 season
By Tushar Bahl
Forwards: Karim Adeyemi, Donyell Malen, Youssoufa Moukoko
Borussia Dortmund have been dealt with a major blow ahead of the new season, with Sebastien Haller sidelined for several months due to a malignant testicular tumour. Anthony Modeste has arrived from FC Köln as Haller’s short-term replacement.
And depending on the opponent, Edin Terzic could look to rotate between Youssoufa Moukoko and Anthony Modeste. The two strikers have very different attributes, and it will be interesting to see who gets the nod to be the first-choice striker.
Donyell Malen and new signing Karim Adeyemi are also more than capable of playing in the number nine role. But they are much more dangerous when playing out wide as it gives them more freedom and flexibility to play their natural game.
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has been promoted to the first-team squad after showing his quality at the U-19s level last season. The highly rated winger will no doubt get a lot of playing time this season, and he could be set for a breakthrough campaign.
Gio Reyna, Thorgan Hazard and Julian Brandt are the other attacking options available to Terzic, and it will be interesting to see what role they play this season.
