Borussia Dortmund are not expected to sign a new left-back this summer following David Raum’s impending move to RB Leipzig.

Despite being heavily linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund all summer long, TSG Hoffenheim left-back David Raum is set to join RB Leipzig. And the BVB bosses are now likely to abandon their plans to sign a new left-back this summer. This is being reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, who add that Dortmund are planning to continue with Raphael Guerreiro as their first-choice left-back.

The Portuguese international’s future came under doubt earlier this summer, as reports claimed that he was free to leave for a suitable offer. While Guerreiro is now set to stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond the end of the transfer window, his long-term future still remains uncertain with just one year left on his current contract.

Borussia Dortmund also have great confidence in the highly rated Tom Rothe, with Ruhr Nachrichten adding that he will be the team’s second-choice left-back this season. The 17 year old made his first-team debut last season and marked it with a memorable goal.

Prince Aning is another talented left-back in Borussia Dortmund’s ranks. The 18 year old, who joined BVB from Ajax this summer, made quite an impact during pre-season. According to the newspaper, the plan is for him to develop further by playing for the U-23s in the 3. Liga this season.
