Report: Borussia Dortmund will look to sign a new striker within the next two weeks

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly planning to complete the signing of a new striker within the next two weeks.
Borussia Dortmund are said to be in the market for a new striker with Sebastien Haller set to be sidelined for several months. The Ivory Coast international, who only joined BVB last month to replace Erling Haaland, will have to undergo chemotherapy treatment after it was revealed that he has a malignant testicular tumour.
The BVB bosses are now looking for a short-term solution for the number nine position. And according to WAZ, those in charge will look to bring in a new striker to Dortmund within the next two weeks.
A number of strikers have been linked with Borussia Dortmund in recent days, including Edinson Cavani, Marcus Thuram, Anthony Modeste, Krzysztof Piątek, and Edin Dzeko. Most recently, it was reported that the Black and Yellows are leading the race to sign Giovanni Simeone from Hellas Verona. The report from WAZ adds that Dzeko is not one of the names on BVB’s list of targets.
It still remains to be seen who Borussia Dortmund’s preferred target is. But due to a lack of available funds, Dortmund are looking to sign someone who will not be too expensive and is willing to sign on a short-term basis.
Edin Terzic used a front three featuring Youssoufa Moukoko, Donyell Malen and Karim Adeyemi for the DFB-Pokal first round tie against 1860 Munich last week. And chances are that we could see the trio start in attack once again as Borussia Dortmund take on Bayer Leverkusen this weekend on matchday one of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season.
