Karim Adeyemi’s injury not expected to be a serious one
Karim Adeyemi’s injury is not expected to be a serious one, and he should be able to return to training after a short break.
Borussia Dortmund suffered another injury scare during their Bundesliga opener against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday evening as Karim Adeyemi was forced to come off mid-way through the first half after picking up a knock on his foot.
But the Germany international is not expected to be out for a long period. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Adeyemi underwent a medical examination on Sunday and a structural injury can be ruled out.
The news will certainly come as a relief for Borussia Dortmund, who are already dealing with a number of injury problems at the moment. Adeyemi has made a very encouraging start to his BVB career and the hope will be that he can make his return to action soon.
The 20 year old scored on his BVB debut against 1860 Munich, and nearly found the net again on Saturday against Bayer Leverkusen. But his effort was cleared off the line before Marco Reus turned the ball home on the rebound.
Borussia Dortmund also had to make do without Sebastien Haller, Niklas Süle and Salih Özcan on Saturday. While Haller will be sidelined for several months, Özcan is already back in training, and Süle gave an update on his injury ahead of BVB’s game against Bayer Leverkusen.
The central defender said that he is on the right track in his recovery, and that he is hoping to return in time for Borussia Dortmund’s matchday three clash against Werder Bremen on August 20.
