Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with FC Köln over the signing of Anthony Modeste, and the transfer will be made official early next week.
Borussia Dortmund have found their short-term replacement for Sebastien Haller, with FC Köln striker Anthony Modeste set to join the club in the coming days. The two clubs have reached an agreement on the transfer fee, BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl has confirmed.
According to Sky Sport, the Black and Yellows will reportedly pay a transfer fee of just under five million euros for the 34 year old. Modeste will now undergo his medical examination and sign a one year contract with BVB.
Modeste rolled back the years and scored an impressive 20 goals in just 32 Bundesliga appearances for FC Köln last season. He is open to a move away from the club this summer, with just one year left on his contract. The cash-strapped Billy Goats are also open to a sale. And it appears that he will now be signing for Borussia Dortmund in the coming days.
Borussia Dortmund were looking to bring in a new striker on a short-term contract, with Sebastien Haller set to be sidelined for the next few months after being diagnosed with a malignant testicular tumour. They were linked with a number of names, including Edinson Cavani and Krzysztof Piątek. But they have now found their man in Modeste.
Anthony Modeste has plenty of Bundesliga experience and would undoubtedly be a shrewd signing for Borussia Dortmund. The French striker has made 190 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring 83 goals.
