Edin Terzic has revealed that Gio Reyna and Mateu Morey are on the right track, adding that they could get some playing time in the coming weeks.

Gio Reyna and Mateu Morey are both on the comeback trail after spending several months on the sidelines with their respective injuries. Both players returned to action last month as they played 45 minutes in Borussia Dortmund’s friendly match against Antalyaspor.

And head coach Edin Terzic gave an update on the highly rated duo’s status during his press conference ahead of the game against SC Freiburg on Wednesday.

"“They missed a lot over the last year, of course. We were very happy that they were able to join us during pre-season. But we’d rather give them one more day than not enough days. I think they’re both doing well, they both got playing time in the friendly against Antalyaspor and they are on the right track. We’re hoping for them to get back to much more playing time in the near future.”"

Borussia Dortmund have made it clear that they want to take a cautious approach and slowly integrate Reyna and Morey back into the team in order to prevent them from suffering any further setbacks.

Morey spent more than 12 months on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury during Borussia Dortmund’s DFB-Pokal tie against Holstein Kiel in May 2021. While Reyna was forced to miss the majority of last season due to various injury problems. The USMNT international was an unused substitute during Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga matchday one clash against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend.
