Borussia Dortmund will reportedly earn around two million euros from Sergio Gomez’ transfer to Manchester City thanks to a sell-on clause in his contract.

Sergio Gomez has completed his transfer to Manchester City, joining the English Premier League champions on a four year contract for a fee in the region of 15 million euros. The 21 year old’s move to Manchester comes on the back of an impressive breakthrough campaign with RSC Anderlecht.

And Borussia Dortmund will reportedly make a small profit of around two million euros from the sale. This is being reported by Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, who add that the Black and Yellows will receive 15% of the profits from the fee for Gomez thanks to a sell-on clause they negotiated when he made the switch to Anderlecht last summer.

Sergio Gomez joined Borussia Dortmund from FC Barcelona’s youth academy in 2018. But he wasn’t able to make much of an impact, and only made three short appearances for the first-team. He spent two seasons on loan with Spanish side SD Huesca before being sold to Anderlecht for a cut-price fee in 2021.

The Spanish youth international got his opportunity to shine in Belgium. And a position change from attacking midfield to left-back helped then-Anderlecht head coach and former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany get the best out of him.

Sergio Gomez finished last season with seven goals and 15 assists in just 49 appearances across all competitions for Anderlecht. And now he has joined Manchester City, where he will link up with former Borussia Dortmund players Erling Haaland and İlkay Gündoğan.
