Edin Terzic has praised Marius Wolf following his strong performance off the bench against SC Freiburg last week.

Marius Wolf came off the bench and played a crucial role in Borussia Dortmund’s stunning come from behind win over SC Freiburg last week. And BVB head coach Edin Terzic has now hailed the versatile wide player for his hard work.

During his press conference ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against Werder Bremen, Terzic said:

"“Wolf not only had some very good offensive actions, but he also delivered a very stable performance defensively. We hardly allowed any crosses in the second half. Marius did a really good job during pre-season and also now as a substitute so he deserved his chance.”“Wolf really ignited offensively in Freiburg and rewarded himself with a goal. The week before, however, he had a completely different set of requirements when we had to defend the lead against Leverkusen,” Terzic added."

Wolf opened his account for the season last weekend by scoring the goal that clinched the win. The 27 year old has established himself as a very useful squad player for Borussia Dortmund over the last 12 months. And now he will be pushing for a place in the starting XI at right-back.

First choice right-back Thomas Meunier hasn’t enjoyed the best of starts to the new season. He was taken off at half-time last week on the back of a below par performance. But Terzic said that the decision was made because the Belgian international picked up a yellow card in the first half.

Meunier’s future at Borussia Dortmund has come under a bit of doubt in recent days, with both Manchester United and FC Barcelona reportedly interested in signing him. But Terzic refused to comment on the transfer rumours on Thursday.

It remains to be seen if Borussia Dortmund would be willing to part ways with Meunier with just two weeks left before the transfer window closes. The BVB bosses rejected an offer for the right-back from FC Barcelona late in the January transfer window.
