Former Borussia Dortmund striker Alexander Isak is set to join Newcastle United for a fee in the region of 70 million euros, reports in Spain and England claim.
Alexander Isak appears set to join English Premier League side Newcastle United. According to El Diario Vasco, Real Sociedad will receive a base fee of 70 million euros plus around five million euros in add-ons for the former Borussia Dortmund striker. The report adds that Real Sociedad have also inserted a 10% sell-on clause in the agreement.
Isak joined Borussia Dortmund in January 2017 for a fee in the region of nine million euros and made his first-team debut two months later, aged just 17. But he found playing time hard to come by in Germany, and was limited to just 13 appearances for the club.
The Sweden international then joined Spanish side Real Sociedad on a permanent transfer in 2019 for a transfer fee that eventually rose to around ten million euros.
Borussia Dortmund initially had a buyback clause that would have allowed them to re-sign Isak for 30 million euros. But the two clubs agreed a deal last year to remove the buyback clause in the striker’s contract. The Black and Yellows received a fee in the region of 5-6 million euros as part of the agreement.
Alexander Isak scored 44 goals in 132 appearances across all competitions for Real Sociedad, and he is now set for a big money move to Newcastle United. It will certainly be interesting to see how the 22 year old fares in the English Premier League in the coming months.
