Borussia Dortmund will go up against Erling Haaland and Manchester City in the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage.

Borussia Dortmund have been handed a tough draw for the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage. Edin Terzic’s side were drawn in Group G and will go up against Manchester City, Sevilla and FC Copenhagen.

There will also be a reunion with Erling Haaland, Ilkay Gündoğan and Sergio Gomez, who are all part of the Manchester City squad. The Norwegian international scored 86 goals in just 89 appearances for the Black and Yellows before his summer move to Manchester City. While Gündoğan helped Borussia Dortmund win the Bundesliga title during the 2011–12 season.

Borussia Dortmund will also have to overcome the challenge of Sevilla if they want to qualify for the round of 16. BVB managed to beat Julen Lopetegui’s side under Edin Terzic when the two teams last met in the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League round of 16. Sevilla also have former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Thomas Delaney in their ranks.

Danish Superliga champions FC Copenhagen are also in Group G after qualifying through the playoffs. They will certainly look to make things difficult for the other three teams in the group.

As always, the draw for the UEFA Champions League group stage resulted in some very exciting match-ups. Robert Lewandowski will go up against his former club Bayern Munich in Group C, while Liverpool will take on Ajax and Napoli in Group A.

Eintracht Frankfurt are in Group D, with Tottenham Hotspur, Sporting CP and Marseille. While RB Leipzig will face defending champions Real Madrid, as well as Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic in Group E.
