Anthony Modeste’s first goal in a Borussia Dortmund shirt was enough to seal the three points in a hard fought game against Hertha Berlin.

Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, with Anthony Modeste’s first half header sealing a 1-0 victory away to Hertha Berlin. It wasn’t the most convincing of performances from the Black and Yellows, who missed a host of big chances. But they got the job done in the end to clinch their third win of the season.

Edin Terzic made two changes to the team that lost to Werder Bremen last weekend. Salih Özcan came into the team for his Borussia Dortmund debut, and fellow new signing Karim Adeyemi also made his return to the starting XI after recovering from his injury.

Borussia Dortmund created a host of big chances in the first half. Marco Reus and Salih Özcan were both denied by the woodwork, while Anthony Modeste forced a save from the goalkeeper before missing a golden opportunity mid-way through the first half.

The Black and Yellows finally managed to take the lead in the 32nd minute, with Anthony Modeste heading the ball into the net after getting on the end of Salih Özcan’s cross. The Frenchman’s first goal following his summer move from FC Köln helped BVB take a narrow lead into the break.

Borussia Dortmund continued to dominate the game after the break. Anthony Modeste, Marco Reus and Jude Bellingham all came close to scoring, while Marco Richter hit the crossbar for Hertha Berlin. In the end, the second half ended without any goals and the away side managed to claim the win.

Despite another unconvincing performance, the result will come as a massive boost for Borussia Dortmund. Edin Terzic’s side looked a lot more dangerous going forward, and also did a much better job defensively. While Gregor Kobel stood strong once again in goal to claim a well earned clean sheet.
