Borussia Dortmund make decisive step towards Bundesliga title

Schalke 1-2 Borussia Dortmund (14 April 2012)

Borussia Dortmund looked to be on their way to winning the Bundesliga title during the 2011-12 season when they faced rivals Schalke on Matchday 31 of the campaign. The Royal Blues were determined to put a spanner in the works of their rivals’ title charge and took the lead after just nine minutes thanks to Jefferson Farfan’s strike.

Lukasz Piszczek’s stunning effort leveled things up soon after, before Sebastian Kehl capitalized on Christoph Metzelder’s mistake to complete the comeback in the 63rd minute.

The Black and Yellows held on to claim the three points en-route to winning the Bundesliga title. It was a spirited display of attacking football by Jürgen Klopp’s side, who showed exactly why they deserved to win the Bundesliga crown.
