Borussia Dortmund’s Mo Dahoud and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens add to injury woes
Borussia Dortmund have been dealt further injury blows as Mo Dahoud and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens suffer from shoulder injuries.
Injury woes are nothing new for Borussia Dortmund as a club, but the last year or so has been particularly harsh on the club in this respect. The club’s injury concerns have been exacerbated once again with both Mahmoud Dahoud and Jamie Byone-Gittens suffering from shoulder related injuries.
Dahoud dislocated his shoulder in the early stages of Dortmund’s capitulation against Werder Bremen at home. The player looks like he won’t return to action until November at the earliest, as confirmed by the club’s head coach Edin Terzić prior to kickoff. The player will have to undergo surgery to rectify the injury in question.
Bynoe-Gittens on the other hand suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder during yesterday’s game. The young Englishman was replaced by Thorgan Hazard after having a very lively start to the game.
While Dahoud’s absence has been remedied by the inclusion of Salih Özcan in midfield, Bynoe-Gittens’ injury will be far less easy for Dortmund to cope with. Alongside Donyell Malen and Karim Adeyemi, this means that Dortmund have three wide attackers potentially unavailable to them. This will severely hamper Dortmund’s ability to go forward especially considering that Anthony Modeste hasn’t been as efficient so far as some would have hoped.
Both fans and club alike will hope that the injuries to both players are dealt with properly and that they can return to the fold as soon as possible. There may be some light at the end of the tunnel for Dortmund out wide with Karim Adeyemi slowly making his way back towards match fitness, but the over arching issue of chronic injuries in key areas is still a specter that seems to haunt the club; a specter that will test the mettle of the club’s depth as they move closer to a a key juncture in the season with the start of the club’s Champions League campaign around the corner.
