Thorgan Hazard (N/R)

Hazard had a run of bad luck today as he was forced off in the 23rd minute with what looked like a hamstring injury. He was kept relatively quiet in the opening minutes of the game, and he will be disappointed that he was not able to stay on and put his stamp on the match.

Julian Brandt (8/10)

Brandt put in a true Man of the Match performance today against Copenhagen, bagging the award after the game. He rarely put a foot wrong and was responsible for assisting the opening goal scored by Reus. The only criticism would be that he should have scored at least one goal, instead sending a shot sailing high into the stands. Brandt was a crucial cog in the attacking machine for Borussia Dortmund today and was rewarded for his efforts.

Anthony Modeste (7/10)

Anthony Modeste seems to have really settled in nicely with Borussia Dortmund after what was a frustrating first couple of games for the former Köln man. No, he didn’t score any goals today, but his hold-up play and passing were top-tier, and he played a big part in the attacking third despite not getting on the scoresheet. Again, the only complaint for Modeste would simply be the poor shot attempt he sent wide in the first half.

Giovanni Reyna (7.5/10)

Knock on wood, but I think that Reyna is officially back. Although coming on for an injured Thorgan Hazard early in the first half might not be an ideal situation from any perspective, Borussia Dortmund will be incredibly pleased with Reyna’s performance today. The young American looked right as rain, playing a crucial role in the attack and drawing fouls like he never left. Reyna bagged himself two assists today, and he will be looking to continue to build his fitness and return to full form.

Youssoufa Moukoko (5.5/10)

Moukoko was subbed on for Anthony Modeste in the 66th minute but was kept pretty quiet for the remainder of the game. Moukoko had a chance to put the game away late as he was set up nicely by Reus, but shanked the ball wide to the left. Although he will certainly be disappointed that he didn’t put his mark on the match, Moukoko will continue to get plenty of opportunities with the current injury crisis to the team.

Emre Can (3.5/10)

With no other serviceable midfielders with first-team experience, Can was substituted on for Salih Özcan early in the second half to save the Turkish midfielder for the weekend clash against RB Leipzig. If it wasn’t clear before today, it should be abundantly clear now that Can is a liability to the team. His misplaced passes and reckless defensive challenges nearly cost Dortmund more than a few times today against Copenhagen.

Tom Rothe, Marius Wolf (N/R)

Neither Tom Rothe nor Marius Wolf were on the pitch for long enough too warrant ratings, as both had short, cameo appearances at the end of the game.
