Borussia Dortmund looks to ride the momentum of three consecutive clean sheet victories when they head to east Germany for an enticing reunion with former manager Marco Rose.

Edin Terzic’s side appears to have taken the Werder Bremen debacle to heart. Whatever was said behind closed doors in the aftermath of that match has clearly registered within the squad. There’s still a growing injury list and relative inconsistencies in front of goal. Yet, there’s a sense of pride in defending that has been absent for years at the club.

A healthy Niklas Sule is beginning to form the sort of partnership with Nico Schlotterbeck that many supporters had hoped for as they entered this campaign; one that demonstrates a sense of reliability both in defense and in regard to progressive passing distribution into the opponent’s half. Both the center-back duo and the depth of the squad will be tested in the coming weeks against what is likely to be Dortmund’s toughest stretch of games across all competitions.

The first of those challenges became even more fascinating as it will serve as a reunion with Terzics’s predecessor, Marco Rose. RB Leipzig had an absolutely abysmal start to this season and justifiably acted quickly to replace Dominico Tedesco with the 45-year-old Leipzig native. Rose will find himself in both familiar surroundings and against familiar opposition on Saturday.

Dortmund’s well-documented injury problems haven’t exactly allowed Terzic to utilize all of his new tools at once. Though progress has been made, it still appears that Donyell Malen and Karim Adeyemi are not quite ready to feature. Edin Terzic referenced the club’s cautionary approach toward their returns to the forward line in Thursday’s press conference.

Elsewhere, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Thorgan Hazard, Mahmoud Dahoud, Gregor Kobel, Sebastian Haller, and Mateu Morey remain sidelined. With this in mind, here is how Dortmund will potentially line up against a new-look RB Leipzig.
