RB Leipzig 3-0 Borussia Dortmund: Key Talking Points

Borussia Dortmund took on RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena this past Saturday, with Die Schwarzgelben incurring their second defeat of the campaign.

The Bundesliga has served up yet another action packed weekend for it’s fans. Unfortunately for Borussia Dortmund fans, it wasn’t the sort of action they were looking for.

BVB fell for a second time this campaign, with the Black and Yellows this time stumbling against RB Leipzig at Red Bull Arena. This is Dortmund’s second loss of the campaign, but the first of which (3-0) that the club has failed to at least score once in. Edin Terzić’s charges put in a lethargic performance that was well below the standard expected of Dortmund as a club. The team was outplayed by a Leipzig side that looked revitalized under new head coach Marco Rose; a familiar face for those of Dortmund inclination.

Dortmund came out swinging in the initial minutes of the game, but they became progressively more sloppy both in going forward as well as in defense, failing to create many chances while also being unable to capitalize on those that did come their way. This in many ways comes as a result of the team being stuck in terms of their identity on the pitch. The personnel on the pitch have not been a good match for the type of football the club wants to play, and it’s become very telling.

The 3-0 defeat speaks for itself in many ways, and points towards the team and coaching staff needing to sit down and really discuss how they want to proceed on the pitch moving forward. Lets take a look at some of the key talking points that may indeed the focal points of the club’s internal discussions moving forward.
