By Tushar Bahl
Title rivals Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are set to collide at the Signal Iduna Park this weekend in the latest edition of Der Klassiker.
Another fiery contest awaits us this weekend as Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich lock horns in the Bundesliga. The anticipation is very high ahead of this topspiel between Germany’s two biggest teams. And it will be interesting to see who comes out on top on Saturday evening.
For Borussia Dortmund, this game presents the perfect opportunity to issue a statement and show that they are ready to end Bayern Munich’s dominance in the Bundesliga. The Black and Yellows have not been able to find much consistency so far this season. But they have shown glimpses of their title credentials, and go into the game on the back of an impressive 4-1 win over Sevilla in the Champions League.
Borussia Dortmund will be without Marco Reus this weekend. But Mats Hummels and Marius Wolf are expected to be in the squad on Saturday. Gregor Kobel and Gio Reyna are both doubts. While Mahmoud Dahoud, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Sebastien Haller and Mateu Morey are set to miss the game.
Bayern Munich have roared back into form after going four Bundesliga games without a win. They beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 last week, and followed that up with a 5-0 thrashing of Viktoria Plzeň in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Bayern Munich will be without the injured Lucas Hernandez and Bouna Sarr. Thomas Müller will also miss the game, but Joshua Kimmich is set to feature. Kingsley Coman is also set to make his return to the team and could start on the bench.
