Hans-Joachim Watzke: We have a long-term project with Edin Terzic

Hans-Joachim Watzke has given his backing to Edin Terzic, saying that the Borussia Dortmund head coach is part of the club’s long-term plans.
Edin Terzic returned to the Borussia Dortmund dugout in the summer after the club’s shock decision to part ways with Marco Rose at the end of last season. The 39 year old, who led the Black and Yellows to the DFB-Pokal title as interim head coach in 2021, has endured a bumpy start to the season with injury problems affecting the team’s progress once again. But he remains a crucial part of the club’s long-term plans.
In an interview with SportBILD, Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke reaffirmed the club’s commitment to Edin Terzic.
"“Edin Terzic is sitting very securely in the saddle with us. With him, we have a long-term project that we will definitely see through.”"
Terzic has done a fairly decent job since taking over as head coach on a permanent basis, especially considering all the challenges his team has had to face both on and off the pitch so far this season.
Borussia Dortmund are just two points behind league leaders Union Berlin in the Bundesliga standings, and they are also well on course to qualify for the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
A gruelling schedule lies in store for Edin Terzic and Borussia Dortmund in the coming weeks, with the team set to play 11 more games in just over a month before club football takes a break for the FIFA World Cup. The next few weeks will no doubt be crucial to BVB’s hopes for this season. But with Terzic at the helm, the team certainly has the foundations in place for long-term success.
