Edin Terzic was full of praise of Anthony Modeste after the striker came off the bench and helped Borussia Dortmund earn a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Anthony Modeste showed his importance to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday by coming off the bench and helping the team rescue a point against Bayern Munich. The striker has been the subject of a lot of criticism in recent weeks, but he issued an emphatic response against Bayern by scoring a 95th minute equaliser.

Edin Terzic has backed Modeste in recent weeks despite his scoring drought. And he heaped praise on the 34 year old after the game on Saturday. The Borussia Dortmund head coach added that they knew it was only a matter of time before Modeste made his mark for his new club.

"“It’s not easy to be a number nine for Borussia Dortmund”, Terzic told ESPN after the game. “There are big expectations, especially if you have to replace somebody like Erling Haaland.”“Tony is such a great guy. He works so hard during the week, and he scores so many goals in every training session. And we knew it was just a matter of time before he scored for us in the Bundesliga, in the Champions League and the Pokal.”“You can see what it meant to the team that Tony scored, and we hope that he can continue like this.”"

Modeste joined Borussia Dortmund from FC Köln in the summer as a short-term replacement for Sebastien Haller. The Frenchman could only manage one goal in his first 11 appearances for the Black and Yellows, and plenty of criticism followed as a result. But he stepped up when it mattered most, and helped his side come from two goals behind and snatch a point against the record champions.

Anthony Modeste set up Youssoufa Moukoko for Borussia Dortmund’s first goal, before heading home from close range in the 95th minute to make it 2-2. The Signal Iduna Park erupted with joy as BVB finally ended their losing streak against Bayern Munich.
