Raphael Guerreiro will be out of contract at the end of the season, and his future at Borussia Dortmund appears to be uncertain at the moment.

Raphael Guerreiro made his 200th appearance for Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday as he came off the bench during the 1-1 draw against Sevilla. The Portuguese international remains the team’s first choice left-back. But a decision on his future beyond the end of the season has not yet been made.

According to SportBILD, Borussia Dortmund have yet to hold concrete talks with Guerreiro over a contract extension. The 28 year old’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season. And at the moment, it remains to be seen if he will be offered an extension.

Borussia Dortmund were reportedly open to selling Guerreiro in the summer. It was heavily reported that the Black and Yellows wanted to sign David Raum from TSG Hoffenheim. But they did not receive any concrete offers for Guerreiro, and Raum ended up joining RB Leipzig.

It has been a mixed start to the season for Raphael Guerreiro, who has made a total of 12 appearances across all competitions for the club so far. The left-back has looked lively going forward, scoring three spectacular goals. But his defensive struggles have left fans frustrated on a number of occasions.

The BVB bosses will likely use the next few months to monitor Raphael Guerreiro’s performances and make a decision on whether he should be offered a new contract. Tom Rothe and Prince Aning are the other two left-backs in Borussia Dortmund’s ranks, and the young duo are rated very highly at the club.
